Just 9 minutes ago, a magnitude-2.3 earthquake struck near Mexicali, Mexicali Municipality, Estado de Baja California, Mexico. The tremor was recorded late at night on Sunday, September 6th, 2026, at 10:59 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.17 km below the surface.The event was reported by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which also listed the quake at magnitude 2.3.Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage but was probably felt by many people as a light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
