A back four featuring Cedric, Holding, and Mari with Lokonga and Xhaka ahead of them conceded goals from Lukaku and James. Arsenal have scored 15 and conceded 3 goals in their last 6 home games against Chelsea. Chelsea's first 2 games in the league this season produced 12 goals, the joint-third most in Premier League history. βπΌ Pre-Match Ramblings The first of many London derbies this season is upon us tomorrow with a rebuilt Chelsea visiting what has been a very fruitless place for them for the past 5 years. Chelsea are being heralded as the team most likely to challenge us for our title this season following exciting opening games in which they showed off their pretty exciting attack, whilst also showing the country how leaky they are at the back. Conceding 2 at Fulham and 3 at home to Brighton should be an invitation to go and get at Chelsea's unsettled defence, especially after they lost Enzo Fernandes on deadline day with no replacement. As average as I think he is, he was clearly an important player for Chelsea, and he was only let go because Chelsea were confident in getting a replacement before the deadline. Some late soap opera-esque shenanigans saw Chelsea missing out on their replacement in Camara, which was pretty funny to watch unfold. Expect to see the familiar back three that Xabi Alonso has used at Chelsea so far, with no changes expected to the Fofana, Lacroix, and Colwill backline, balanced on the other end with Palmer, Rogers, and Pedro. I have to admit, that front three looks very good. After a poor season, Palmer seems to be hitting some form again. Joao Pedro looks to have been the best striker move last season after Arsenal and Man United fought it out for Sesko and Gyokeres, whilst Chelsea quietly went and got what has turned out to be a brilliant striker. They also have Rogers who, until Chelsea and Villa got extremely pally over the summer, looked certain to be ending up at Arsenal. We all know how that played out. On our side, I would not be surprised to see Konsa start, although this would be harsh on a Mosquera who has had a good start to the season, playing a vital part in the two clean sheets we have kept so far. It almost seems silly to change what's clearly working, but this Chelsea attack is levels above what we have faced so far in Coventry and Villa, and Konsa is simply a better player than Mosquera. You don't invest that heavily in a player of that age to not play him. I said during the week that I would like to see Bruno G start, but it sounds like he hasn't been training fully following the Villa game, so it may not be worth the risk given how good the Myles-Rice pivot has looked. I think the toughest decision Arteta faces is the LW question: Tzolis or Eze? Tzolis had a tough time at Villa park. Cash gave him nothing, and it clearly got to Tzolis. Tzolis looked like a player out of Belgium coming to terms with the physicality of the best league in the world, and it will only be harder to perform against a fired up Chelsea side. For me, it's Eze. Our #10 scored some important goals for us last season in some big games (both NLDs and the Newcastle goal come to mind), and this is a game for those kinds of players. Eze may not give you 90 minutes of sprinting and dictating the game, but he will give you a few moments. Sometimes a moment is all you need. https://anditsarsenal.com/2026/09/05/arsenal-vs-chelsea-6th-september-2026-premier-league-match-preview/ submitted by /u/Mahoganychicken [link] [comments]
