Damage key components with a strong geomagnetic storm and the failures cascade, producing blackouts across enormous areas.In the worst version, some regions stay without reliable electricity for long stretches. And once power goes, so does nearly everything attached to it. Phones, computers, refrigeration, transport systems, and less obvious things like water treatment and sewage, all of which lean heavily on electricity.Animals would feel it too. Migratory birds, sea turtles, whales, bees, and salmon all navigate using the magnetic field, and a shift would disrupt migration patterns considerably.They’ve been through this before, though. Those species survived previous reversals, which suggests nature adjusts eventually.Now for the reassuring part.None of this happens overnight.
