A tiny hedgehog rescued in Gozo has been released back into the wild after months of dedicated care from the volunteers at Nature Trust – FEE Malta.Named Laura, the young hedgehog was found in Qala when she was too small to survive on her own. According to the wildlife rescue team, she spent weeks recovering, growing stronger with plenty of care, good food and, as they jokingly put it, “very definite opinions about the menu”.In a heartwarming video shared by the organisation, Laura takes one final look around before disappearing beneath the shrubs, marking the end of her rehabilitation and the beginning of life back in the wild.“Moments like these are what wildlife rehabilitation is all about,” Nature Trust said. “Every rescue is made with one goal in mind: giving wild animals the chance to return to a life in the wild.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)The organisation reminded the public that hedgehogs are a protected species in Malta, making it illegal to harm them or keep them as pets.
