I'm so very sorry your body isn't listening to you. If you're still interested in the field, you may be able to still scratch that itch with some limited hour remote work? I know someone who had to leave bedside and now she works as a answering service night-nurse for a pediatric place. I know another nurse who got REALLY burnt out after 2020, but still uses her degree working with a Vocational Rehabilitation group summarizing medical records for people without medical degrees-- it helps with ADLs and proper job placement, apparently! I have heard tell of another Legend who tutors pre-med type students in the trickier of the required classes (O Chem, physics, BioChem, etc) for $20/hr. He only takes cash, gives discounts for students willing to share a time slot, and works out of the student union for free. I think he even bicycles there, so no parking fees. My spouse (a nurse) once asked him if he lives off shoe boxes full of $20's and the tutor shrugged "basically." (Never have I, a Spanish major/History minor, been more envious of people who can understand OChem 😒)
