Just when you think summertime romances are over, Amazon Prime pulls you back in with another win. From the steamy Off Campus to the Legally Blonde YA prequel Elle, the streamer has found success with these feel-good dramas. As of writing this, the hockey romance sits at No. 2 in the Top 10, while Elle lags only slightly behind at No. 4. But a brand new drama just landed on Prime today, and it has already reached 94% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, so we could be seeing Sterling Point take over a slot in the Top 10. But what is this series that has already gotten people’s attention? The summertime YA drama comes from the mind of Megan Park (who also directs) and follows teenager Annie and her twin brother after they inherit a remote island in Canada. Sterling Point promises buried secrets, sisterhood, and complicated family drama. And immediately it gave me We Were Liars vibes. (Image credit: Sabrina Lantos/Prime)While ‘psychological thriller’ isn’t part of the promised premise, it does sound like this series is offering a mystery along with plenty of angsty drama. In other words, everything currently trending in pop culture. Even Off Campus, beat out The Boys for No. 1 in the Top 10, and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. The series just dropped, but all eight episodes are already available to binge via Amazon Plus subscription, and who knows, this could be your next new favorite series! And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Even critics have left positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety described the series as a journey dealing with grief and self-discovery, and as “one of the most authentic YA series in years.” Meanwhile, Guardian compared it to other major series: “It doesn’t carry the intensity or the existentialism of its edgier counterparts. But I was surprised by how long I wanted to stay with these characters.” However, don’t just take the word of critics, fans have already signed up. Andrew M. called this a “great throwback teen drama.” But what has me most excited to binge Sterling Point is what xd kingpug X had to say: “Actually makes the characters likable.” Far too many YA shows deliver angst without relatable characters, so this makes me happy.The series stars a relatively newer cast, but has rising star Ella Rubin in the lead as Annie Jacobson. The actor is most known for her role in horror films, Until Dawn and Fear Street: Prom Queen. And this is a breakout role for Mark Ruffalo’s son Keen Ruffalo, who plays Annie’s twin. Sterling Point also stars Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, and Jay Duplass. Though for those who may need more incentive: Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays a flawed father who has a connection to Annie’s past. So this is your sign to go and watch this series. Initial reviews have me hopeful for representation of indigenous and queer characters, and themes of female empowerment and friendship. These all things I love to see in a new show, and makes me fee like Sterling Point is the perfect addition for summer viewing on the 2026 TV schedule.
