Four men have been arrested following a police operation linked to the alleged trafficking of illegal drugs in St Julian’s.During patrols in the area, a 38-year-old Somali man living in Birżebbuġa approached a plainclothes police inspector and offered to sell him drugs. He was immediately arrested alongside a 41-year-old Romanian man who lives in St Julian’s, who police said had been seen with him on several occasions during surveillance.Searches on the pair allegedly uncovered 18 sachets of suspected cocaine, 12 sachets of suspected cannabis and 13 suspected MDMA pills.Police later searched the Romanian man’s residence, where they found a 27-year-old Maltese man from Isla and a 33-year-old Colombian man allegedly processing and packaging suspected tusi. Both men were arrested at the scene.A further 10 suspected pills similar to those seized earlier were also recovered.A magisterial inquiry has been launched, while police investigations remain ongoing. The four men are expected to be arraigned in court today at 11.30am.•
