GOLD: Consolidation Before the Next Major Move?Gold vs US DollarFPMARKETS:XAUUSDM_I_TradeBuenas noches, Gold is currently relaxing, and the probability structure on the chart reflects it well. The upside and downside probability levels are relatively balanced, suggesting that price is presently in a consolidation phase rather than a clean directional expansion. So, is the next move up or down? For me, the short-term answer is not particularly important. I am looking for the move that can be traded, not trying to predict the final destination of gold. Current Multi-Timeframe Structure The market is divided: 1H and 2H → Bearish 12H, 1D and 3D → Bullish More importantly, the higher-timeframe bullish structures currently have their flip levels roughly $1,400/oz below the market. Those flip levels are dynamic. They can move considerably as price, volume and volatility evolve, so they should not be interpreted as fixed targets. This disagreement between short and long timeframes is exactly what makes the present structure interesting. Short-term pressure is bearish while the larger structure remains bullish. That is consolidation. Can Gold Run Higher From Here? Yes. The previous advance in gold created a very large underlying structure, so another move higher would not surprise me. However, I am not yet convinced that another rally from here should automatically be interpreted as the beginning of the next sustained long-term bullish leg. I still think gold would benefit from building a well-established consolidation structure first. The Scenario I Would Prefer My preferred long-term sequence would be: Break the Daily 100/200 EMAs ↓ Establish acceptance around/beyond them ↓ Pull back and retest the area ↓ Then begin the larger bullish expansion That would create a much stronger technical foundation for a sustained move higher than simply launching vertically again from the current structure. My Current Bias I am interested in riding a move higher if the market gives it, but that is different from being convinced that gold has already begun another long-term bullish ascent. Right now, I see the larger environment as a potential whipsaw regime. Short-term bearish pressure. Long-term bullish structure. Balanced probability levels. Large distances between important timeframe flip levels. That combination can produce excellent trading opportunities in both directions before the market finally establishes its next major trend. For now, I would rather trade the moves than marry the direction. This is market analysis and research, not financial advice.
