A few things I learned that aren't obvious from just watching the videos: - The historical research/scripting part is where most people cut corners. I used Claude AI's custom skills feature — built a specific "ai vlog" skill that pulls from real sources and outputs a properly-sized script (1min, 3min, 5min, whatever you need). You can literally paste in a webpage with historical details and it'll weave that in accurately instead of hallucinating dates/facts, which was my biggest worry going in. - Consistency is the actual hard part, not the "wow AI can make videos" part. Getting the same face AND voice across every single shot is where most people's videos fall apart and look janky. I used Apob AI for this — you train the character once (took about 10 credits for the portrait, 300 for the voice), and it holds up across the whole storyboard. - The "storyboard to video" feature is what saves the most time. You paste your script in as the "video brief," it breaks it into shots automatically with a character sheet, and you review before generating the full clip. Way faster than prompting shot by shot, though for Shorts/Reels I did go shot-by-shot with Claude generating the individual prompts. - Don't skip the human editing pass. I exported everything into CapCut, trimmed weak clips, added music/SFX and a disclaimer since it's history content and AI can get facts wrong. That last 10% is what separates it from looking like generic AI slop.
