Martha Stewart Did Not Hold Back About Meghan Markle (Attempting) To Step In Her Home Lane

Wait 5 sec.

Meghan Markle is literally a royal; however, when it comes to home and cooking content, Martha Stewart is one of the queens. Now, Stewart has shared her unfiltered take on the Duchess of Sussex’s attempt to step into her world of cooking and home television. Since With Love, Meghan’s release, it’s been hit with criticism. A celebrity chef called it “painful to watch,” and people got snarky when the series was nominated for an Emmy. And while Martha Stewart has shared her takes on the royal before, in an interview with People, she really didn’t hold back about the Suits star stepping into a world she knows all too well: If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show. It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there. When Markle married Prince Harry and stepped away from acting, it was a huge transition. It was also met with a ton of criticism and opinions from the public. When they moved to the US, that was also a big transition met with turbulent reactions. Then, when they decided to make their own shows, people didn’t hold back their opinions. While Stewart’s point feels harsh, she did also state a fact. It’s not every day you see someone go from being an actress to a royal to a “homemaking guru.” That comment wasn’t the only thought about Markle that Stewart shared. Earlier in the interview, she was asked: “What are you like at a dinner party?” The Martha Cooks host then explained that her friends say she’s “LIFO: last in, first out.” That was followed by a story about a dinner party she recently attended that the Duchess of Sussex happened to be at. While they didn’t chat, the TV personality did share her thoughts on seeing the actress there: I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace. I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it.Again, this is not the first time Markle has been brought up to Martha Stewart. Back in 2025, she took the high road when questioned about the royal, saying she was “not going there.” However, a few months after those comments, Stewart was asked about Markle again, and this time, her response about the royal stepping into the world of lifestyle content was, “I hope she knows what she’s talking about.” I feel like Stewart’s latest comment has that same energy, as she noted that the career and life changes Markle has gone through are jarring.Overall, Meghan Markle’s time in this space hasn’t been easy. Her shows have been met with lots of criticism, and there have been reports and rumors about her deal with Netflix. The streamer also dropped her brand As Ever earlier this year; however, the Duchess of Sussex is still working with it on an adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel Meet Me at the Lake. With all that said, we’ll have to wait and see how Meghan Markle’s work in the home and cooking space, as well as her collaboration with Netflix, evolves. Meanwhile, I’ll also be waiting to hear Martha Stewart’s take on it all.
