StatPearls is free online, but I always wanted it offline, searchable in one place and linked to my own notes. So I built a program that downloads the official archive from the National Library of Medicine and turns it into an Obsidian vault on your computer. Full transparency that coding was assisted by AI as I'm a med student not a programmer, though I started manually and I did test it pretty thouroughly, so I can say it works quite well! Works on literally any device with obsidian. Technically, you dont even need obsidian, all the notes are plain markdown files so you can even upload them to notion if you're crazy like that. What you get: All 8,660 articles, text unchanged, each with its authors, tagged, last-update date and links to Bookshelf and PubMed Links between related articles (click "catheter ablation" in the AF article and you're there) Search by title, or full-text search across sections (etiology, evaluation, treatment…) Categories by system, plus figures with captions The same script that downloads the notes can also automatically update the articles, you just need to run it again once in a while. It's free and open source: https://github.com/MatheusTG-14/StatPerls-Obsidian. Included a .exe for Windows, Mac (Apple Silicon) version or the Python script itself. The first install takes about an hour. Not affiliated with StatPearls or NLM! You download the articles yourself because its not legal to distribute the notes themselves; so keep this in mind! Downloading the files is perfecly legal and uses the government's own FTP (you are allowed to keep statperls articles for personal study). submitted by /u/MatheusTG14 [link] [comments]
