This started as an "Animator vs. Animation" idea: what if a stickman could actually step out and mess with my real computer? It's a native macOS app written in Rust (about 22k lines). The figure lives in a transparent, click-through overlay on top of everything: - Walks along the Dock, jumps onto window title bars, rides them when I drag the window, falls when I close it - Uses Apple's Vision OCR to find lines of text, which it treats as platforms - In combat mode it chases my cursor, punches it, and rips real words off the screen to throw at me - When it gets angry enough it makes ransom notes out of letters torn from my windows - Super jump, telekinesis and scrollbar swordThere are also rival duels, boss fights and aminion army The part I find most interesting is the "mind". A local LLM (llama3.2 1B in Ollama, nothing goes to the cloud) picks its mood every few seconds. It remembers whatpp, and it builds up resentment, fear andaffection. Every couple of minutes it reflects on those memories and rewrites its own beliefs ("The user hits me most in Safari"). Each night it writes a diary ent It also goes quiet when my camera is on (it agets sleepy after 11 pm. Stack: winit + wgpu (Metal) for rendering, rareqwest for the AI, objc for the macOS APIs. Biggest lesson: a tiny 1B model is useless fonty for "decide you're furious with the user".Memory plus reflection did far more to make it feel alive than a bigger model would. Happy to answer questions. What should it learn next? submitted by /u/Difficult_Finger_232 [link] [comments]
