Hey everyone, Like many of you, I've tried dozens of habit trackers over the years. Most of them suffer from the same two fatal flaws: 1. The checkbox trap: You can tap a button from bed and lie to yourself. There’s no real accountability. 2. The cloud & privacy tax: Apps that actually verify your habits demand aggressive $40–$60/year subscriptions and send your personal check-in photos straight to their cloud servers. I didn’t want my daily routines or living room photos sitting in a third-party database. So I decided to build AURA. What makes it different? 100% On-Device Neural Engine: Verification runs entirely locally via Apple’s native Vision framework and CoreML. When you verify a habit (reading a book, hydrating, working out), the local AI processes the visual proof right on your iPhone's chip. Zero Cloud Architecture: No Supabase, no Firebase, no remote servers. Your photos and progress never leave your device’s encrypted local sandbox. Apple Ecosystem Native: Built natively in SwiftUI with interactive home screen widgets, lock screen live activities, and an independent watchOS companion app with dial complications and haptic feedback. Gamified Progression: Level up, earn XP, track streaks, and export clean visual recaps without the bloat. You will finally earn AURA points, not with AURA battles, lol. Current Status The app architecture and watchOS sync are fully finalized, and I'm currently squashing final layout bugs and polishing transitions ahead of the App Store release. I’ll be releasing it as a clean, indie-friendly product (no predatory monthly subs, no server data tracking). If you want to follow the final stretch of development, see raw test builds in action, or get early access as soon as the TestFlight / App Store link drops, check out the X page and live with me this journey: ** [@AURAappiOS**](https://www.google.com/search?q=https://x.com/AURAappiOS) Would love to hear your thoughts: what's the single most annoying thing about current habit trackers that you wish indie devs would fix? Let’s go! submitted by /u/Builderstk [link] [comments]
