'TDN Rising Star' presented by Hagyard Quietside (Malibu Moon–Benner Island, by Speightstown) (hip 175), a two-time graded winner and twice Grade I-placed at two for John Ed Anthony's Shortleaf Stable, commanded a final bid of $5.2 million from Erdenheim Farm Thoroughbreds to take over as the Book 1 leader with fewer than 100 horses left to go under hammer Tuesday at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.“My father deserves all the credit. He's been in the game for 50 years. He's had a lot of good horses,” said his son Ed Anthony. “This filly is pretty special. Obviously we bred her. We own the mare. She's entered in the January sale, Benner Island. So we'll see if that continues and holes. But yeah, she's going to be in the January sale. My father's 87.“He's starting to downsize a little bit. We sold a really nice mare a couple years ago called Bubble Rock. But yeah, he's just downsizing and kind of slowly dispersing, you might say. So that's kind of where we are right now.”Consigned by Stone Farm, agent, the 4-year-old filly was named a 'Rising Star' at first asking in the summer of 2024 and was second in the GI Spinaway Stakes and third trying two turns for the first time in the GI Darley Alcibiades Stakes. She carried that good form into her 3-year-old season, when she won the GIII Honeybee Stakes and GII Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park. She was third to recent GI Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Nitrogen (Medaglia d'Oro) in this year's Azeri stakes and was offered here on a Mar. 29 cover to leading sire Nyquist.Quietside is one of two foals of racing age for her dam, winner during her time at the track of the GII Eight Belles Stakes and herself second in the Honeybee.Benner Island, also placed in the 2017 GI Acorn Stakes, is a half- or full-sister to seven other winners, including dual GIII Vagrancy Handicap winner Victim Of Love (Speightstown) and SW & GISP Ohana Honor (Honor Code). The post ‘Rising Star’ Quietside Raises The Rafters at Keeneland November appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
