Ankle Breakers, Head Slapping, and All the Media Want to Concentrate On Is a Non-Contact Headbutt, the Dive That Followed and Two Shirt Pulls!!Yes, it’s happening again, an over-the-top reaction to what The Arsenal did during the game with Liverpool.Let’s make it very clear that I agree the referee and VAR officials should have awarded a penalty, and they also missed another possible spot kick involving Tzolis. But here’s where I find the coverage of the game so one-sided and biased. If the penalties had been given, no player would have been under the threat of a long-term injury or sent off for violent conduct, resulting in a minimum three-match ban, unlike the laughable reaction to a “headbutt” that would also have resulted in a three-match violent conduct ban!!Both Arsenal players could have been booked, but that would have been the maximum possible outcome regarding the penalties. What About the Challenges on Odegaard? However, the second-minute tackle on Odegaard was one that could be seen as a career-threatening injury, and yet no action was taken, as happened when the same player should have received another yellow card just ten minutes later.Which of these four incidents should have been called out and covered by the media, simply because of the violence shown and the long-term consequences? Then we have the farce of Odegaard yet again being targeted for physical assault, when he was slapped around the head after being fouled once again by a player who then decided to fake a headbutt in order to get another player sent off.Why are these incidents not being reported and investigated with the same scrutiny that an obvious shirt pull has been?Where Is the Balance in the Media Coverage?I feel that all four incidents should have involved the VAR officials, and Liverpool should have had two penalties awarded regarding two of them. However, Liverpool should have been down to ten men as early as the second minute, if not by the fifteenth minute, while ending the game with nine men!!Slapping someone around the head is violent conduct and a red card, while faking a headbutt should be a yellow card.So let’s get these four incidents into perspective and rise above the usual media-biased hype against our club.By the way, although the officials had a bad day at the office, at least they didn’t favour either team. That’s not something that can be said about the media and pundits following Arsenal’s victory at Anfield.Do you agree with my views?
