I have been holding so much inside, and I feel like I need to express what I've been going through. I worked at Northwell Health as a phlebotomist. I was trying to build a career in healthcare, gain experience, and create a better future for myself. I cared about my job, and I never imagined things would end the way they did. I went through a situation where I was accused of being racist. That accusation hurt me deeply because I felt it did not represent who I am as a person. What hurt even more was the way everything was handled afterward. I felt unheard, misunderstood, and like my side of the story didn't matter. Then I lost my job. Northwell later described my departure as a resignation, something I disputed. Even after everything happened, I was left with unanswered questions and feelings I still struggle to put into words. What makes this even more painful is that I also felt abandoned by my union, 1199SEIU. I expected support and representation. I requested my documents and tried to get answers, but I didn't receive the responses I needed. It is a terrible feeling when you believe you have nowhere to turn. Since then, I haven't felt like the same person. This experience has affected my confidence, my emotional well-being, and my trust in people and institutions that I once believed would treat employees fairly. I'm trying to move forward. I'm still applying for jobs, still trying to build my career, and still hoping to find my place in healthcare again. But sometimes people don't understand that losing a job is not just about losing a paycheck. Sometimes you lose your sense of security, your confidence, and a part of yourself. I am not writing this to attack anyone or to ask for sympathy. I am writing because I've been carrying this pain for a long time, and I need to let it out. My experience matters. My feelings matter. And I deserve to have my side of the story heard. submitted by /u/deadinside22000 [link] [comments]
