A DoorDash driver allegedly demanded a higher tip from a customer because of traffic, then tried to take the delivered food away after the customer reported her and the order was refunded. A TikTok video posted by @nitronas0405, which has gained over a million views, shows the incident. The video shows a confrontation at a residential front door, filmed from inside the house looking out onto a porch with a stone pillar. A woman in a grey T-shirt and glasses stands in the doorway, pointing her finger at the delivery driver outside. The driver, a woman in a red tank top, stands on the porch. The customer says, “I’m sorry, I have to take that back because it just canceled my-” The driver responds, “That’s fine, they’re refunding it.” The customer replies, “Okay,” and bends down to pick up a white plastic bag of food from the porch floor. As she does, the driver steps forward and says, “No, I’m keeping this,” reaching for the bag. The customer pulls the bag inside the doorway while the driver keeps reaching for it, and the video ends abruptly. The exchange continues in a second video A second TikTok video labeled “pt.2” shows the confrontation continuing. The woman in the red tank top stands outside on the porch and shouts through an open glass door at a man inside the house who is holding the white plastic bag. She yells, “Oh, I have to take that? You’re not new! I’m not new!” while gesturing. The man, partially visible and holding the bag, responds from inside the doorway. The woman continues, shouting, “You didn’t have my f–king money, b–ch! The f–k?” As the argument goes on, the man steps back further into the house and moves out of the direct line of sight of the door. The woman remains on the porch and keeps yelling about the refund and the food. She shouts, “They’re not gonna refund your – if they’re refunding your money, then you need to give me the f–king product! The f–k?” She points while making the demands. The video ends with the woman still standing at the door and continuing to shout. The original post’s caption states: “Dasher called and demanded a higher tip because of traffic. Shopper called DD to report her. DD refunded the order after it was dropped off so the dasher tried to go take the food.” Tip disputes like this have popped up elsewhere, such as when a TikToker said a driver judged her 20% tip too low. Viewers shared mixed reactions in the comments. One person wrote that a Dasher should not be allowed to ask for a higher tip. Another said, “I tip after delivery. If you’re rude or come out and ask for a tip you get nothing.” Someone else described the tip drama as ridiculous and asked whether this happens only in the US or also dramatically in Canadian cities.
