Patients treated with sirolimus-coated balloons were more likely to remain free from repeat procedures to reopen blocked leg arteries than those receiving paclitaxel-coated balloons, according to three-year results from the SIRONA clinical trial presented at TCT 2026. While both treatments showed similar improvements in walking ability and quality of life, researchers said the findings require confirmation through five-year follow-up.
