I can tutor maths and physics GCSE/A level and I’ve been actively looking for students to tutor online for about 2 months, starting from like 2 weeks before the start of the uk academic year. I found one gcse student who I taught for 3 paid lessons until the parent and the child decided to stop. I did get a review from the parent put on my Superprof profile at least. I also found another student from Facebook who did one trial lesson with me but the parent has either decided to ignore me or is just really bad at replying because they asked for my bank details which I provided but hasn’t responded to my messages asking when to do the lesson. I’ve had a handful of other enquiries but they didn’t lead to any leads. I’m in 3rd year of a physics degree at a russel group uni and I got As in maths and physics at A level so I’ve got a decent academic history. My prices are £25/hour for GCSE and £30/hour for A level. I’ve set up profiles on tutoring marketplaces like Superprof but for some reason it hasn’t generated any enquiries. I made sure the advert was properly written and the prices were correct and my photo is decent…but just nothing at all :( I also set up profiles on other platforms however they all start asking for large payments if you want your advert to be seen which I just can’t do. Or they require certain hours like 15 a week which is too much. I think my limit is like 6 to 7 hours of teaching a week. As for what I’ve been posting, I’ve posted lots of revision sheets and top tips for students on Nextdoor and Facebook as well as just normal adverts stating what I offer and what I charge etc. But I currently don’t have a single student and I’m not getting enquiries and I’m just really sad. I need to save up money alongside my degree but nothing is working. I’d appreciate anyone’s advice. Is there anything I have not considered? Or is there anything I need to be putting in all my posts? BTW I have an enhanced dbs check and I mention that in my posts on Facebook submitted by /u/TeleSGguy [link] [comments]
