Hey everyone! Ages ago, I bought a Wii that ended up collecting dust. Then, one Christmas, my family surprised me with a launch-model Switch 1. I wasn't expecting it, and naturally, it had Atmosphere installed by the next day. I've always loved the more cartoonish, 2D-style Zelda games, so I really enjoyed Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom. Apart from those, I've barely used the Switch for anything other than party games. After setting up countless Amazon alerts, I finally managed to grab a Switch 2 40th Anniversary Edition and the new Zelda. I was too young to play the original when it came out, so this seems like a great opportunity to experience it for the first time. The thing is, I already have a jailbroken PS5 and a pretty capable gaming PC, which brings me to my question: If I'm buying the Switch 2 exclusively for Zelda, does it actually make sense to keep it? Or, given the progress being made with emulators, would I be better off playing on my PC? I live in a fairly small place, so space is also a consideration. I've also found a copy of Civilization VII at a nearby store for €19.99 (still at retail price), and I could ask a friend to pick it up for me. Obviously, if the Switch 2 gets hacked in the near future, keeping it would become a much more attractive option. Things seem promising so far, but realistically, we have no idea how long that might take. So, what would you do in my situation? My console doesn't have a shipping date yet, although the game should arrive next week. As I see it, I have a few options: Keep the console, play Zelda, and then leave it offline while waiting for a potential jailbreak. Play Zelda and sell the console afterward at a fair, non-scalper price. Return the console and stick to PC emulation. I wouldn't sell or return it without first testing the emulator and making sure my PC can actually run the game properly. My main concern is ending up with another console collecting dust. I already have a Switch 1 that barely gets used, and I don't particularly want a Switch 2 sitting next to it just to play a new Zelda every few years. I originally thought buying the console was my only realistic option, but now I'm having second thoughts. For context, I bought my PS5 mainly for Ratchet & Clank. In the end, I've played that, Astro Bot, and a few Assassin's Creed games. So I'm starting to feel like I own more consoles than I actually have time to enjoy. Would you keep the Switch 2, or is it just another expensive dust collector waiting to happen? submitted by /u/kivaj [link] [comments]
