I’m exploring a small SaaS idea and would love honest feedback from people who freelance, run agencies, consult, or work independently. The problem I’m looking at is something many freelancers probably experience: clients contacting them outside working hours, sometimes for urgent issues. You finish work at 6 PM, but a client messages you at 11 PM because something isn’t working. You either respond and sacrifice your personal time or ignore it and risk upsetting the client. I’m considering building a product called Ping Me to address this. How it would work: A freelancer creates a personal Ping Me profile and gets a unique link. They share that link with their existing clients. They configure their working hours, availability and after-hours contact preferences. If a client needs their attention, they open the link and submit a request with a short voice note explaining the issue. The freelancer receives a special notification with the client’s details and reason for contacting them. The freelancer can accept or decline the request. If accepted, they contact the client directly using their preferred method, such as a phone call or WhatsApp. Ping Me itself would not handle calls or provide the actual service. It would simply manage the request and notify the freelancer. The business model: Freelancers pay $10/month to use the platform. Clients can submit requests for free. There are no per-request charges or commissions. The goal is to give independent professionals more control over when and how clients can reach them, without replacing their existing communication tools. However, I’m not convinced this is necessarily a problem worth paying to solve. Some questions I’d genuinely like your opinion on: Do clients regularly contact you outside your working hours? Have you ever wanted a dedicated system to manage after-hours requests? Would you share a personal link like this with your existing clients? Would you pay $10/month for something like this? Why wouldn’t you just use WhatsApp, an automated reply, or a clause in your contract? What would make a product like this genuinely useful rather than another unnecessary SaaS subscription? I’m still at the idea-validation stage and haven’t built anything. I’d appreciate honest criticism, especially from people who have actually dealt with clients and after-hours interruptions. If you think this is unnecessary, I’d genuinely like to know why. submitted by /u/Rough_Butterfly_1746 [link] [comments]
