Cesc Fabregas has been tipped to be the next Chelsea manager after Xabi Alonso. The former Blues and Arsenal midfielder is winning plenty of fans for the job he is doing as boss of Italian side Como.Fabregas has been linked to some of the top jobs around EuropeGettyThey smashed Lens 9-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night and look certain to progress to the knockout stage.Como are also just two points off the top of Serie A and have lost just once all season.Their rise in the last decade has been staggering, with the club playing in the fourth tier of Italian football as recently as 2019.In 2022, Fabregas was revealed as a new Como player as the club sat in Serie B.He invested a minority ownership share when he joined, partnering alongside former Barcelona teammate Thierry Henry with the exact percentage not being publicly disclosed.Where could Fabregas go next?Alonso was only hired as Chelsea manager this summer on a four-year contract. But when has that stopped there being a swift change in the Stamford Bridge dugout? The Blues are currently fourth in the Premier League, but some fears have been raised early on in his tenure. This came to the fore in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham at home with his team selection coming under fire. Now 50-cap England women’s striker Lianne Sanderson believes Fabregas could be the man to eventually replace him.Fabregas’ Como have scored 19 goals in four Champions League gamesGettySanderson told talkSPORT’s Kick-Off: “There’s a lot of conversation about Cesc Fabregas. When you’re a good coach, good manager, he’s going to be linked to different teams. “My hot take was he’ll be the next Chelsea manager after Xabi Alonso.”Fabregas at ComoItalian journalist Daniele Fisichella joined the show and admitted he was surprised that Fabregas was still at the Italian club.He said: “I think we are blessed in Serie A having had him for three seasons already. I thought last summer he would have gone because he received so many criticism in Italy for the way his Como team played. “Como don’t always win games, but they always play on the front foot. And Cesc made the mistake of telling the Italians, well, you are all about the results and you don’t care how teams play.“There’s been a lot of criticism because people get a little bit twitchy about it, but then he had the last word last season. Como are one of the most exciting teams to watch in Europe this seasonGetty“I thought that after all this, so much criticism, he would have gone to the Premier League or maybe to La Liga but he actually stayed.“But I am under no illusion. I think this next summer he moves to a bigger club with no disrespect to Como and so does Nico Paz, so does ‘Tasos’ Douvikas and probably Lucas da Cunha, who’s already played for the French team. “Cesc is the real deal. He’s got a stronger playing philosophy, but he’s not a fundamentalist. I think he’s taken a leaf out of some of the Italian managers’ books as well. “This season Como managed games better than last season. Sometimes they’re even happy to defend in a low block.“He’s not just attack, attack. He’s also a little bit of a pragmatist.”Fabregas’ budding managerial career follows his stellar playing days which saw him play for elite sides of world football. The Spaniard controversially moved to Chelsea from Barcelona having spent the first eight years of his career at Arsenal. But Fabregas enjoyed huge success at Stamford Bridge as he won five trophies, including two Premier League titles. As well as winning a plethora of trophies at club level, Fabregas was part of the all-star Spain squad that won Euro 2008 and 2012 as well as the 2010 World Cup.
