Multiple powerful submarines and aircraft carriers in the United States are set to get advanced systems to boost their performance. For this, Curtiss-Wright Corporation has been awarded contracts valued in excess of $225 million by Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc. The aim is to provide advanced propulsion valves, pumps and instrumentation and control systems for the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-class nuclear powered attack submarine, Columbia-class submarine and Ford-class aircraft carrier programs.Curtiss-Wright will supply critical technology to support ongoing ship construction and fleet maintenance activities.Submarines to get mission-critical products that enhance performance“Curtiss-Wright is proud to provide mission-critical products that enhance the performance, reliability, and readiness of the U.S. Navy’s nuclear fleet,” said Lynn M. Bamford, Chair and CEO of Curtiss-Wright Corporation. “The Company maintains a longstanding partnership with the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, consistently delivering highly engineered solutions that contribute to our nation’s strong defense capabilities. Furthermore, Curtiss-Wright remains well positioned to benefit from the administration’s continued strong funding for naval shipbuilding supporting the acceleration of production on its most critical platforms.”Curtiss-Wright is performing this work at its facilities in New York and Pennsylvania within the Company’s Defense Electronics and Naval & Power Segments. Engineering, manufacturing, and testing are currently underway, and will continue through 2030, according to a press release. The latest contract awards reinforce Curtiss-Wright’s longstanding position as a key technology supplier to the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, while highlighting the continuing importance of advanced engineering systems in maintaining the operational capabilities of the American naval fleet.Curtiss-Wright will execute the contracts at its facilities in New York and Pennsylvania through its Defense Electronics and Naval & Power business segments. Engineering, manufacturing and testing activities are already underway and are scheduled to continue through 2030. The work will contribute to both the construction of new naval vessels and the maintenance of existing platforms.Equipment supplied under agreements plays key role in performanceThe equipment supplied under the agreements plays an important role in supporting the operational performance, reliability and safety of nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers. By delivering specialised propulsion and control technologies, Curtiss-Wright will help support the complex engineering requirements associated with the U.S. Navy’s next-generation naval platforms. The delivery of advanced propulsion, pumping and control technologies is an essential part of this broader effort.
