NiceDB - a free desktop database client where production stays read-only until you unlock it

Wait 5 sec.

I've been building NiceDB, a desktop client for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse and about twenty other engines. Version 0.1 came out this week for Linux, Windows and macOS. It's free and GPL-3.0. The idea it's built around: a connection marked as production opens read-only. You unlock writing for ten minutes, and before a change is applied you type the connection's name. Every write is logged. The rest is what I use every day: a query plan view that points at the slow step and the missing index, an ER diagram, a grid where edits queue up and apply in one transaction, activity and locks, schema compare. Stack: Rust core, Tauri 2, Svelte 5. No account, no telemetry. Try it in the browser on demo data: https://nicedb.app Code: https://github.com/maxib0n/NiceDB It's a first release, so I'd really like to hear what breaks and what's missing compared to what you use now. submitted by /u/Low_Guard5883 [link] [comments]
