I built an interactive platform to visualize and simulate computer science concepts

Wait 5 sec.

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a side project called System Simulator, and I wanted to share it with the community. The idea came from something I’ve personally experienced while learning computer science: understanding concepts theoretically is one thing, but actually seeing how they work internally is a completely different experience. Reading about load balancers, network communication, JVM internals, caching, or distributed systems can only take you so far. I wanted to build something where you could actually experiment with these concepts. So, I started building System Simulator. What can you explore? • System Design: Experiment with clients, servers, load balancers, databases, and other architectural components. • Computer Networks: Visualize how packets travel and how different networking components communicate. • Java Internals: Understand the execution flow, JVM, class loading, and other concepts through visual simulations. • Interactive Learning: Instead of simply reading explanations, interact with components and observe how things work. The platform is still evolving, and there’s a lot more I’d like to add. This has been a pretty interesting journey of combining software engineering with visual learning. Here’s the platform: https://systemsimulator.vercel.app/ I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from developers, students, and anyone interested in computer science. submitted by /u/KitchenChannel9630 [link] [comments]
