A brand-new prequel to John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) has arrived.Only one film in the Halloween franchise has ever attempted to explain how Michael Myers escaped Smith’s Grove Sanitarium on October 30, 1978. The original film shows that he somehow found his way outside off-screen before stealing a car and making his way back to Haddonfield. Rob Zombie’s 2007 reimagining, however, reveals how its version of Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) brutally dispatches a group of guards during a transfer.Otherwise, his escape in the original has remained a complete mystery until now.A new Halloween comic series returns to the night before he came home, acting as an official companion to the newly released Halloween: The Game.Credit: Miramax / Blumhouse Productions / Universal PicturesRelated: ‘Halloween’ Removes Multiple Films From the Franchise, Digitally Alters 1978 OriginalHalloween: The GameIllFonic’s asymmetrical multiplayer slasher title Halloween: The Game launched in early September and has been keeping fans of the franchise busy ever since, whether they’ve been playing as one of Haddonfield’s residents or as Michael Myers himself in the story campaign.Similar to how films such as Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) and Halloween (2018) ignore multiple sequels in the film series, Halloween: The Game goes all the way back to Carpenter’s original classic while even fleshing out the events that precede Michael’s massacre.Playable characters include “final girl” Laurie Strode (voiced by Chelsea Krause), and her friends from the original film, Bob Simms (Nicholas Leung), Lynda van der Klok (Angela Carbone), and Annie Brackett (Kaitlyn Robrock). Dr. Loomis is voiced by Colin Mahan, who provided the voice for the character in Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2021).Michael Myers is portrayed by original Halloween (1978) actor Nick Castle and actor/stuntman TJ Storm, with both performers providing motion capture.
