Piero Hincapie has attracted interest from Barcelona, with the Catalan club reportedly believing the Arsenal defender could be an excellent addition to their squad.Hincapie has become an important player for the Gunners in recent weeks and continues to develop positively across all competitions. Arsenal regard him as one of their top players and are keen to keep him as part of their long-term plans.Although the defender is happy in London, he is not guaranteed a starting place. That situation could eventually make him consider leaving the Emirates Stadium if an attractive opportunity arises.Barcelona identify Hincapie as a transfer targetAccording to Sport, Barcelona sporting director Deco has identified Hincapie as a player who would fit into Hansi Flick’s system. The report suggests that Deco would pursue a move for the defender at the end of the current season, as Barcelona consider strengthening their squad ahead of the next campaign.Hincapie’s qualities have reportedly convinced the Catalans that he could make a valuable contribution to their team, making him a potential summer transfer target.(Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images)Arsenal face a battle to keep HincapieThe Gunners will be determined to retain the defender, particularly given his importance to the squad and his continued development under Mikel Arteta. However, Barcelona remain an attractive destination for many players, especially Spanish-speaking footballers who could find it easier to settle in the country.Hincapie might also welcome the opportunity to test himself at another major European club, meaning Arsenal cannot afford to assume he would automatically reject an approach from the La Liga champions.Much will depend on the role available to him at Arsenal and whether Barcelona turn their reported interest into a concrete offer. The Gunners will hope he remains committed to their project, but his future could become an important talking point when the summer transfer window approaches._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
