Newbie on a ward placement. I'm exhausted after every shift:( Busy days are rough, but even the quieter ones leave my whole body aching by the time I get home. I'm on my feet all day, walking back and forth, moving equipment, changing pads, helping patients roll over, getting TED stockings on... the list never ends. Rolling someone who can help themselves is one thing. Having to do most of the work yourself when repositioning someone is brutal. My arms and back are COOKED. It's also mentally draining. Im trying to remember everything, keep up with the ward, and make sure patients are safe while your body is running on fumes. I've only been on this ward for a few weeks and I swear I've lost weight from the workload alone. Will your body eventually adapt to this? What do you do after a shift so you're not starting the next day already exhausted? NEED tips pls! submitted by /u/Britrer [link] [comments]
