Tottenham midfielder Xavi Simons is now in the final stages of his recovery at Hotspur Way, seven months after suffering his ACL injury. The Netherlands international Xavi Simons has spent the last seven months sidelined with an ACL injury, having picked up the knock back in April in Spurs’ clash against Wolves.Simons’ injury came at a time when he was finally starting to find his rhythm in a Spurs shirt and influence games, having grabbed a brace against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16, and then managing a goal and an assist in the game against Brighton prior to his injury.Following his ACL setback, an emotional Simons, who missed out on the World Cup last summer, wrote: “They say life can be cruel and today it feels that way. My season has come to an abrupt end and I’m just trying to process it. Honestly, I’m heartbroken. None of it makes sense.“All I’ve wanted to do is fight for my team and now the ability to do that has been snatched away from me… along with the World Cup. Representing my country this summer…just gone. It’ll take time to find peace with this, but I’ll continue to be the best teammate I can be.“I have no doubt that together we’ll win this fight. I’ll walk this path now, guided by faith, with strength, with resilience, with belief, as I count down the days to getting back out there. Be patient with me. TTP. COYS.”Injured Tottenham playerInjuryPotential ReturnWilson OdobertKnee01/01/2027 (training)Xavi SimonsKneeEnd 2026/Start 2027Mykhailo MudrykAnkleNovember 2026SavioMuscularNovember 2026Lucas BergvallKneeNovember 2026Tosin AdarabioyoKnockNovember 2026Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramXavi Simons nearing return to Tottenham trainingIn the last few months, Simons has been working on getting back to full fitness, and Spurs Web has shared parts of his journey, including the midfielder’s return to light individual training outside on the grass.Simons has yet to return to the training pitches with the rest of the Tottenham squad, but that is expected to change later this month.According to journalist Tom Allnutt, Simons is set to enter the final phase of his recovery later this month, which is expected to include reintegration into team training at Tottenham. That is well ahead of the normal recovery schedule for ACL injuries, which usually takes up to nine months, or even 12 months in some cases. To put that into perspective, James Maddison’s recovery from the ACL injury he picked up in the summer of 2025 took him nine months, with the midfielder only returning on 11 May 2026, when he made his comeback in a Premier League match against Leeds United.Xavi is due to start training with his Tottenham teammates later this month (November), two months ahead of schedule. The journalist wrote: “Xavi Simons to enter final phase of his recovery later this month, including reintegration into team training at Tottenham. Xavi ahead of schedule and on track to be involved with the squad again, 7 months after his ACL injury. Xavi to complete phase two of his recovery at the end of this week some time off during the international break, before starting final stage later this month incl return to team training.”Excl: Xavi Simons to enter final phase of his recovery later this month, including reintegration into team training at Tottenham.Xavi ahead of schedule and on track to be involved with the squad again, 7 months after his ACL injury. @TimesSport— Tom Allnutt (@TomAllnutt_) November 4, 2026What Simons’ return means for De ZerbiOf course, Simons’ return will serve as a huge boost for Roberto De Zerbi, who will have more options to turn to in midfield and out wide. The Dutchman showed his versatility during his debut season with Tottenham, often filling in on both the left and right flank when called upon.At the moment, the left flank could well do with more cover, with Tel the only recognised left winger, leaving Spurs to turn to Marmoush to fill in there. Simons could also be used through the middle in the number ten role. While Maddison has returned to fitness, the Englishman has had to deal with a few minor knocks here and there, which have kept him from having a consistent run in the squad.Simons’ return will certainly offer more creativity. But it is not just the Dutchman making a return, with Wilson Odobert having now returned to outdoor solo training.Out to train with Wilson Odobert! 🙌 https://t.co/cK6MGGbN5l— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) November 4, 2026READ MORE: Tottenham want Ibrahim Maza, but Maza wants a Ballon d’Or and Champions League titleThe post Xavi Simons injury update: Tottenham star to return to training in November appeared first on Spurs Web.
