I built a free Home Assistant add-on that turns your house into a live 3D model, and you control everything right where it is

Wait 5 sec.

Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'd like to show you 3D Floorplan, a free, open-source Home Assistant add-on I've been building for my own home. You draw your house once (or let an AI build it from a description), place your devices, and from then on you control everything right where it really is: tap the lamp to dim it, see which window is open, watch where your power is flowing. The video shows the best parts in under two minutes. It is recorded automatically in the demo, and even the music comes from a small script. โ–ถ Try it right now, no install and no Home Assistant needed: live demo in your browser, with an example house, lights and sensors. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ Build your home 2D blueprint editor linked live with the 3D view (split view), with snapping and a measure tool Trace over a scan or photo of your floor plan Several floors, basement, attic with dormers and roof windows, stairs (straight, L, U, spiral), balconies Plot, garden, terrain on a slope, 270+ furniture pieces, your own .glb models Or describe it instead of drawing it: paste a JSON description (a "Copy AI prompt" button gets ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to write it for you), use GeoJSON outlines or the REST API, and the whole house is built, plot and garden included ๐Ÿ’ก Control it Every device is a real Home Assistant entity: lights (colour, brightness, Kelvin), covers, windows that tilt open in 3D when the contact says so, media players, vacuums, fans, thermostats, alarm panel A whole room at once, scenes, effects (Nanoleaf with its own layout editor, WLED, Hue) Live state within a fraction of a second (it listens to HA's event stream, no polling) The sky of the time of day with the real sun and moon, clouds, rain and snow from your weather entity, and a warning when a window is open while it rains Rooms coloured by temperature, humidity or COโ‚‚ Power as a picture: sun, grid, battery and house, with cables and flowing dots ๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Pages for every day (it can be your only dashboard) โ˜€ Today (weather, calendar, train delays, who is home), โšก Energy, ๐ŸŒก Climate, ๐Ÿ“ท Cameras, ๐ŸŽต Music & TV, ๐Ÿงบ Household (washer "tell me when it's done", car, garden), โ–ถ Routines, ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Family Arrange them like an HA dashboard: drag cards around, 12 kinds of your own cards, your own pages ๐Ÿ”ฅ Heating and routines A weekly schedule per room and heating rules (window open โ†’ off, nobody home, night, boost, holidays) A room sensor per thermostat, like Better Thermostat (calibration / external sensor, or it shifts the target) Your own routines built from blocks, Node-RED style ("when โ€ฆ then โ€ฆ"), saved as real Home Assistant automations ๐Ÿ”’ And more Security playback: replay the whole day in 3D on a timeline Voice: "Which windows are open?", "Lights in the living room off" Wall tablets: kiosk mode, each tablet starts in its own room, a low-power mode for Fire tablets; a phone view made for one hand Only the users you choose can edit; automatic backups and undo Fully local: no cloud, no account 8 languages: English, Deutsch, Franรงais, Espaรฑol, Italiano, Nederlands, Polski, ็ฎ€ไฝ“ไธญๆ–‡ ๐Ÿ“ฆ Install Home Assistant OS / Supervised: add the repository with one click, install 3D Floorplan, start it and turn on "Show in sidebar" Home Assistant Container (Docker): runs as a second container next to HA, and you log in with your HA user (steps) Dashboard card: custom:floorplan3d-card (HACS custom repository, type Dashboard) puts the live 3D view on any dashboard ๐Ÿ”— Links GitHub: https://github.com/BuRnEd4AiM/HA-Floorplanner Live demo: https://burned4aim.github.io/HA-Floorplanner/ Video guide, every feature as a short clip you can search: https://burned4aim.github.io/HA-Floorplanner/guide/ How it grew, version by version: https://burned4aim.github.io/HA-Floorplanner/timeline.html ๐Ÿค– To be upfront about it: this is an AI-assisted project. The code is written together with Claude (Anthropic). The idea, the design, every feature decision and the testing in my own smart home are mine, with hundreds of rounds of screenshots, bug reports and fixes on real wall tablets. Every change runs through automated backend and browser tests, and it's all open source (GPL v3), so feel free to look under the hood. I'd love your feedback! What would you need for your home? Bugs and ideas are very welcome as GitHub issues. Some of the newest features (a free-hanging balcony, an adjustable window tilt angle) came straight from users' issues.
