Whisper Hill Farm's Mandy Pope went to $1.05 million to acquire the first seven-figure weanling of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington Tuesday afternoon.Bred and consigned by John Mayer's Nursery Place, hip 19 is a filly by Good Magic out of the stakes-placed Boat's Ghost (Silver Ghost), the dam of Grade I winner Finnegans Wake (Powerscourt {GB}), but more importantly of former 'TDN Rising Star' presented by Hagyard Puca (Big Brown). That stakes-winning and Grade II-placed mare is the dam of four winners from four to race, including GI Kentucky Derby hero Mage and GI Belmont Stakes victor Dornoch, also sons of Good Magic. Puca is also responsible for Baeza (McKinzie), a $1.2-million Keeneland September yearling and winner of the 2025 GI Pennsylvania Derby.“She might be a little bit small, but it was all there and all in the right spots,” Pope said. “And that family tends to be a little bit that way. So we're hoping she'll continue on. But she did everything right. Moved well, looked good.”Nursery Place acquired Boat's Ghost for $17,000 in foal to Raging Bull (Fr) at the 2023 Keeneland January Sale. The post Pope Goes To $1.05 Million For Well-Related Good Magic Weanling appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
