PS5 became extremely slow after being unplugged – could it be because I stopped updating it?

Wait 5 sec.

Hey everyone, I stopped updating my PS5 when it was on version 14.10. At some point, I lost access to the internet, but honestly, that wasn’t a big deal for me. I could still play my games normally. Whenever I turned off the console, it would ask if I wanted to update the system software. I’d just select “No” and turn it off as usual. A few days ago, I unplugged the console to clean the shelf where I keep it, and accidentally left it unplugged overnight. When I plugged it back in, everything became EXTREMELY slow. After selecting my user profile, it takes around 2 minutes just to reach the Home Screen where my games are displayed. And when I try to launch a game, I have to wait at least another 5 minutes on the loading screen. Sometimes, it just gets stuck loading indefinitely and never actually launches the game. Another thing I noticed is that the system update notification that used to appear whenever I tried to turn off the console has completely disappeared. Is this normal behavior when you leave your PS5 without updating for a long time? Could being unplugged overnight have caused this, or is it possibly something else? Has anyone experienced anything similar? TL;DR: My PS5 (firmware 14.10) became extremely slow after being unplugged overnight. The home screen takes around 2 minutes to load, games take 5+ minutes or get stuck indefinitely, and the update notification has disappeared. Could this be related to not updating the console? submitted by /u/viniciuschb165 [link] [comments]
