Disneyland May Overhaul Guest Security Screening Experience by December 2026

Disneyland Resort has reached the next step in the construction of a new security checkpoint on the eastern side of the Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Let’s take a look at the latest development from the Happiest Place on Earth.New Guest-Focused Infrastructure Coming to Southern CaliforniaCredit: DisneyEarlier this year, Disneyland Resort demolished several ticket booths on the eastern side of the Esplanade between the two Southern California Disney parks. The cleared site made way for the construction of a pedestrian bridge and new security gateway connected to a new parking garage that Disney broke ground on this summer. The new parking garage will house roughly 6,000 parking spaces, more than 300 electric-vehicle charging stations, a security office, and a rideshare/shuttle transportation hub.Part of the DisneylandForward expansion, the pedestrian bridge, the new security checkpoint, and the parking structure will support the anticipated increase in traffic to Disneyland Resort when new attractions open. Disney is currently developing Avatar (2009), Coco (2017), and Avengers Campus attractions for Disney California Adventure Park, as well as reimagining Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.Credit: DisneyUnfortunately, it will be a few years before Southern California Disney Park guests get to experience many of those new attractions. However, recent reporting indicates that one part of the DisneylandForward expansion is closer than ever to welcoming guests.Security Checkpoint Construction at Disneyland ResortCredit: Theme Park Tourist, FlickrOn October 26, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @laughingplace shared photos of the new blue roof canopy visible above the construction walls surrounding the site of the new security checkpoint:A blue canopy has been added to the new eastern gateway security plaza at #DisneylandA blue canopy has been added to the new eastern gateway security plaza at #Disneyland pic.twitter.com/Me4rsydWMf— LaughingPlace.com (@laughingplace) October 26, 2026Fan sites like Pirates and Princesses speculate that, based on the construction progress, the new security checkpoint could open at Disneyland Resort within the next month. However, the Southern California Disney destination has not confirmed an exact grand opening date beyond “fall 2026” for this new screening area in the Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.Credit: Ed Aguila, Inside the MagicUntil the security checkpoint opens, Disneyland Resort guests should allow for extra time to navigate reroutes and alternate security screening checkpoints on their way into Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. To accommodate the construction, the drop-off point for third-party and Good Neighbor hotel shuttles recently moved to a new location near the Lululemon store in the Downtown Disney District.Have you noticed any other construction at Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park?
