I got sick of auditing server racks in Excel, so I built RackedView

Wait 5 sec.

I'm an IT guy. Every rack audit I've done has ended up as the same mess: a spreadsheet, 40 blurry phone photos, and notes nobody can read six months later. So I built RackedView (rackedview.com), a visual rack auditing tool. The goal is to fully document a straightforward rack in 5–10 minutes, not an hour. How it works: Pick the rack and choose whether you're auditing an existing one or documenting a new build Add the hardware by U position, picking exact models from a catalog Map the network, SFP/fibre and console connections Map the power: PDUs, UPS and redundant feeds Review and save. You end up with a clean rack view with colour-coded connections. Who it's for: internal IT teams, MSP techs and anyone who has inherited a rack with zero documentation. Before anyone asks: don't compare us to NetBox, we are not trying to replace it. NetBox is a great source of truth for your whole infrastructure. RackedView is for the person standing in front of a rack who needs to audit it fast and walk away with something visual and readable. What I'd love feedback on: What do you use for rack audits right now? What's the most painful part of keeping rack documentation up to date? Is there anything you'd need before you'd trust it over a spreadsheet? 🎁 If you'd like a 10% promo code, DM me one piece of feedback (good or bad) and I'll send you a code. Thanks for reading. Roast it, I can take it. submitted by /u/SurvivalPlanner [link] [comments]
