Question about 3D printer and recommendations on Printer and Creators

Wait 5 sec.

I’ve been considering getting a 3D printer for years, mainly to print larger collectible figures (around 15–30 cm). Recently, I’ve also developed an interest in miniatures, despite having nothing to do with miniature games like D&D. And after many years i want do buy one next year. I’ve recently discovered resin printers, particularly the "Formlabs Form Studio 1" (around only €700–800), and I’m quite interested in them because of their supposedly much higher detail and smoother surface quality compared to regular FDM printers. My biggest question is: Can a resin printer in this price range actually produce highly detailed miniatures and larger display figures? I’m not really willing to spend more than €1,000 on a printer. This would purely be a casual hobby, not something I intend to do on a large scale. I also have absolutely no experience with 3D modelling, so I’d simply be buying STL files from websites like MyMiniFactory or Cults3D and printing models that I like. Another question: Do resin-printed miniatures actually look as detailed as they do in the promotional pictures on these websites? Or are those images often enhanced or rendered to look better than the actual prints? I’m also interested in recommendations for creators. Some I’ve come across are: -PrintedObsession -White Werewolf Tavern -WitchguildMinis -DM Stash -Mini Monster Mayhem -Great Grimoire Are their models as good as they look in the previews? I’m completely new to resin printing, so any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/true_Skullhead [link] [comments]
