I made a free tool that turns the OpenStreetMap data around any address into a 3D model you can 3D print

Wait 5 sec.

Type an address and it builds the 1, 2 or 4 km around it on the real terrain: buildings, roads, water and green areas from OpenFreeMap vector tiles, terrain from the open Terrarium elevation tiles. Pin a house, share a link to that view, save a poster or an STL to print. Heights come from height or building:levels. Where neither is mapped, the tiles fall back to 5 m, so a town with mapped heights looks far better than one without. In places where the elevation data happens to measure rooftops (Singapore, Anchorage), the app now reads the missing heights from that instead. Seeing your own street flat or half empty is a nice nudge to go and map building heights 🙂 https://yourplace3d.github.io/3d-city/ Code (MIT): https://github.com/yourplace3d/3d-city Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. The credit is in the app, on posters and in the STL file. Feedback welcome, especially on how I read the tags. submitted by /u/Accurate_Adam to r/openstreetmap [link] [comments]
