I built an app that matches you with people who want to hike the same trail. Solo dev, launched today

Wait 5 sec.

My hiking problem was never finding trails. It was finding someone to go with. Group chats say “we should hike sometime” and nothing happens, and a lot of people don’t want to do longer trails alone. So I built Ridgemate. You post a trail you want to hike (or paste an AllTrails link), and when someone nearby wants to do the same trail around the same time, you both get pinged and a group chat opens. Women and non-binary hikers can choose to match only with each other. Built solo in SwiftUI with Supabase for auth, the database and realtime chat. Took a lot longer than planned, mostly App Review and safety features. It’s live on iOS and free: ridgemate.co The hard part now is getting enough people in one area that matches actually happen. Would love feedback on the app, and on how you’d tackle a cold start like that. submitted by /u/nontaxablewriteoff [link] [comments]
