Questions from someone who just bought a second switch 2 - looking for advice

Wait 5 sec.

So I went to Best Buy last night for the Zelda launch looking for the pro controller, but ended up walking out with a console since I had the chance to get it. I've been following the exploit scene here, but I'm still finding it hard to keep up. Here's my current status: I DO have an OG launch Switch 1 which has been hacked in the past. However, I haven't updated it in years and I don't even fully remember what I did to get it there (it's the one that had a hardware exploit that could never be patched). Current firmware on the Switch 1 is 13.2.1|AMS 1.2.6|E, and it is running Tinfoil. Side note, I'm afraid to let the battery die on it because I know there's a special sequence to turn it on that I don't remember. It's been pluggged in for a few years lol No nintendo account on this unit My launch edition of the Switch 2 was receiving most updates (I never tried to save it as a homebrew unit), so it's currently running 23.0.0 (I've been avoiding the latest update prompts for the last few days) Not sure what firmware is on the Zelda edition (haven't opened it yet). I don't have Civ7 or Smile Basic So my questions are: Do I need to buy Civ 7 before it is too late (if it's not already)? What's the status of the webkit exploit without a specific game? What should my update strategy be? I'm not actually that interested in pirating games, I would like to have an official switch 2 on my online account (probably the new zelda one, unless it's easier to hack). Then I'd have a spare for messing around with, ideally with no account so that it doesn't matter much if it gets banned. Interested in running other homebrew apps, emulators, moonlight streaming at 120 Hz, etc. I was thinking I can open the Zelda edition, transfer everything from my current switch 2, and then factory wipe the current one before screwing around. Any thoughts? submitted by /u/rohit275 [link] [comments]
