Andoni Iraola said Liverpool were undone by poor set-piece defending during the club’s 3-2 loss at Fenerbahce.Liverpool lost in Europe for the first time this season, after a 3-2 defeat to the Turkish side in Istanbul. Liverpool twice led in the game through Trey Nyoni’s first senior goal and Alexander Isak, but failed to deal with Fenerbahce’s set-piece threat to crash to defeat.Reflecting on the result, Iraola said it was clear where the Reds went wrong. Speaking at his post-match press conference, Iraola said Liverpool failed to deal with ‘one of the strengths’ he identified in Fenerbahce pre-game.“The main reason I can find to lose the game is we conceded [from] three set-pieces,” he said.“It’s something that we were doing very well in the league, I think we were dealing [with it] quite well until today. We knew it was one of the strengths of Fenerbahce, but we concede from a free-kick, from a corner, even from the long throw at the end.“They are goals that have hurt us because we have twice gone in front after having good moments, controlling the game, arriving. We found the goals. But after, we conceded in situations that we definitely should defend better.”See Also – Five of the best Premier League away kits in 2026/27Follow The Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post Iraola frustrated by Liverpool’s set-piece defending in Fenerbahce loss appeared first on The Football Faithful.
