Springfield Armory is adding three new Model 2020 Waypoint rifles to the lineup, and this time the story is as much about the finish as it is about the mechanics underneath it. All three get a Super Grip SG-100 Cerakote treatment on a bead-blasted carbon fiber stock sourced from AG Composites. The Super-Grip is a non-slip, ceramic finish that adds a rubberized texture to the stock for better handling in the field. The three new variants come in .308 Win., 7mm PRC, and .300 Win. Mag., spanning both short and long action platforms. The .308 runs a 20-inch barrel, while the 7mm PRC and .300 Win. Mag. versions step up to 24-inch barrels. All three barrels are fluted 416 stainless steel, capped with an SA Radial Brake on a threaded muzzle. The barrel and the stainless steel action both carry a black H-164 Cerakote finish, keeping the metalwork subdued while the stock does the grip work. The action is machined from pre-hardened stainless steel with EDM-cut raceways and an integral recoil lug. The fluted bolt uses dual cocking cams and can be broken down without tools, a detail that matters for anyone maintaining a rifle away from a bench. Springfield backs these rifles with the same accuracy guarantee that's followed the Model 2020 line since launch: a .75 MOA guarantee for three-shot groups using match-grade ammunition in the hands of a skilled shooter. Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory, tied the release back to the platform's reputation. "The Model 2020's combination of custom-grade features at production rifle pricing has established it as a premier bolt-action hunting rifle," Kramer said.
