Otonga Michael Ochan, the Acting Executive Director of PAUThe Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) has announced a leadership transition following the conclusion of Executive Director Ernest Rubondo’s second term on August 31, 2026.In a statement, Board Chairperson Lynda Biribonwa said the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development has communicated approval of a new Executive Director-designate.“The Honourable Minister and the Board of Directors are working to finalise the onboarding of the Executive Director-designate, whose details will be communicated in due course,” Biribonwa said.In the interim, the Minister has appointed Otonga Michael Ochan, Director Finance and Corporate Services, as Acting Executive Director effective September 1, 2026, pending assumption of office by the substantive ED.Biribonwa paid tribute to the outgoing ED for his service to the sector.“The Board expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Rubondo for his exemplary leadership and distinguished service, which contributed to the institutional growth of the PAU and the advancement of Uganda’s petroleum sector,” she said.She reassured stakeholders that the transition will not affect operations.“During this period, the Authority’s operations, management structures and reporting lines remain unchanged.
