The ongoing work means that every seat of the newly-expanded 108,000 capacity amphitheatre – the second-largest college football stadium in the country – will have a clear view of the entire field. For those who are located in the new western section, views of Mount Nittany will be visible for all to see. A plethora of upgrades have been made to the NCAA Big Ten Conference powerhouse’s home, including the installation of both a new lighting system and a sound system. The sound system amendments follow fans’ complaints that there was inconsistent volume and quality disparities of speakers in various areas of the venue. They have sought to address this by installing directional speakers specifically designed to distribute sound across the stadium far more evenly. Furthermore, Beaver Stadium has brought in a new jumbotron video board to the upper level of the northern stand. This was originally built in 1991, which, in turn, saw the stadium capacity increase by an estimated 10,000 spectators. To bolster the fan experience, Beaver Stadium has also built a brand new Marzano Club which is situated in the center of the west stand which shows panoramic views of both the field and the university’s campus. According to the athletic department’s official statement, this is a permanent, interactive museum experience “celebrating more than a century of Penn State Football history.”Funded by donations of the football team, it is located within West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium and “brings together historic artifacts, interactive displays and multimedia storytelling to recognize the student-athletes, coaches, staff, teams and traditions that have shaped the program.”“Penn State Football’s history belongs to generations of student-athletes, coaches, staff and supporters who helped build this program,” Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Pat Kraft said. “This room gives us an opportunity to preserve that history, present it thoughtfully and create an experience that connects the proud tradition of Penn State Football with its future.”
