On Saturday, a mother and daughter were killed, and a young child was left injured, during a wrong-way crash on Interstate 270 in Maryland by a suspected impaired driver who is reportedly in the country illegally from El Salvador.46-year-old Musammat Shamima Begum of Burke, Virginia, who was in the Toyota Camry struck by Jose Antonio Caballero-Nolasco, 32, was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.Her 23-year-old daughter, Areebah Jahin of Alexandria, was pronounced dead at the scene.An 8-year-old girl who was in the back seat of the Camry suffered life-threatening injuries and is in the hospital in critical but stable condition.According to WJLA, Caballero-Nolasco appeared in Montgomery County District Court on Monday for a bond review but was denied the defense’s request for release. The judge noted that the allegations showed an “extreme disregard for everyone,” and Caballero-Nolasco was a danger to the community.Per WJLA:According to charging documents, Maryland State Police received a 911 call at approximately 6:43 p.m. Saturday reporting a Ford Mustang traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 495 near River Road.Minutes later, troopers responded to a crash on southbound I-270 south of Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda.
