Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has addressed Mykhailo Mudryk’s fitness, opening up on how many minutes the wide forward can currently play for Spurs.Tottenham Hotspur’s business on transfer deadline day saw them complete the signing of Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.However, the 25-year-old is yet to kick a ball in a competitive game since 2024 following an anti-doping violation, despite having returned to training in the summer. The Tottenham boss has made it clear that the 25-year-old’s minutes will be managed as he builds match fitness.He said: “He needs time to be able to start. To play one part of the game, he is ready right now to play 15-20 minutes.“We spent a very particular season together at Shakhtar. When I spoke about the Ballon d’Or I was very clear.“I was speaking about the potential of the player. The player can respect the prediction or not. He has had plenty of problems, most recently the ban.“He has plenty of qualities though and he needs to feel this season in the right way, not too much pressure. It is the right time for him to show why Chelsea spent £100m (€117m) on him. I think he is ready to play part of the game.”De Zerbi’s Ballon d’Or prediction for Mykhailo MudrykSpeaking about Mudryk’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, De Zerbi said back when he was at Brighton: “Mudryk is a fantastic player, I think he can win the Ballon d’Or in the future. I like him as my ex‑player, but I am now Brighton coach; Brighton cannot buy Mudryk.”It is not difficult to see why the manager felt the Ukrainian was capable of reaching those heights. When the pair worked together, Mudryk was performing at a high level in terms of output on the pitch.Back in 2021/22, the Ukrainian managed an impressive 11 goal contributions in 19 games in all competitions under De Zerbi. The following season, he almost doubled his output, returning 20 goal contributions in 35 games in all competitions.
