View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Alex Borg personally handed the letter containing his request to Speaker Carmelo Abela at Parliament.The move follows Borg’s announcement during Wednesday night’s demonstration in Valletta, when he said he would ask for Parliament to be opened immediately for an urgent discussion following the verdict.Borg said the sitting was needed to ensure that “all questions are answered” in the wake of Fenech being found not guilty.Jurors acquitted Fenech by an 8-1 majority on both charges following the 55-day trial, a verdict which prompted demonstrations in Valletta and widespread political reaction. The government has since appealed for calm following the acquittal and ensuing protests.It now remains to be seen whether Parliament will be reconvened following Borg’s formal request.•
