Bradley Barcola can play on either wing for Liverpool and could make his debut for the Reds against Ipswich Town on Friday, says Andoni Iraola.Barcola became the second most-expensive player in Liverpool's history, after Alexander Isak, when he joined from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported £123m (€143.6m) on Monday.He arrives at Anfield having scored 39 goals and provided 35 assists in 152 appearances for PSG, who he joined from Lyon three years ago.The 23-year-old forward won three Ligue 1 titles and back-to-back editions of the Champions League with PSG, but with gametime far from guaranteed at the Parc des Princes, he is hoping to carve out a key role in Liverpool's plans.Across all competitions last season, Barcola played 70% of his minutes on the left wing, compared to 20% on the right, with the remainder coming in central positions. Concerns have been raised about Barcola's suitability as a Mohamed Salah replacement, given his preference for cutting inside from the left flank, with former Reds defender Jamie Carragher among the pundits to advance that argument.But Iraola believes the France international can play anywhere across Liverpool's frontline."I think we would have preferred to have the best players, rather than a player for a specific position. I am used to demanding all my wingers play from both sides," Iraola told reporters on Thursday."I know they normally have their preferred position, but we have been playing with Victor [Munoz], Cody [Gakpo] or Rio [Ngumoha] on the right side."I think they probably have played more on the left. I have seen them in a good place on the right, Rio is probably more specific from the left side, but I think he has the willingness to improve and play on the right side."Even Bradley, I think he is very open and I think he can play right and left. He has come with the right mentality. I liked that he wanted Liverpool a lot. "He just wanted to come here, and I think that is a good first sign, being the player that he is and the things that he has won. If everything goes well in training today, he will definitely be available for tomorrow's game."Despite Barcola's big-money arrival, there was no deadline-day move for Gakpo, who had been linked with an £85m switch to Premier League rivals Manchester City.But Iraola never wanted to see the Dutchman go and has been impressed with his application in training, saying: "Cody is a very smart player. "My relationship with him has been honest since the beginning. He has performed with us very well, in all the pre-season games, in all the games. He scored in the first game and assisted in the next one."He was well aware of the situation in the market – we were constantly talking with each other. He has trained very well, and I hope we keep him at the same level. "He is in a good place, physically and mentally.
