Scottie Scheffler might have some serious competition next season – from his own caddie.Scheffler has enjoyed another stunning year, winning three tournaments and the FedExCup title while displaying an incredible level of consistency.Scheffler and Scott have been a brilliant duo over the yearGettyWhile he did not win major, he missed just one cut in 20 starts and had 13 top five finishes.The undisputed world number one is a shoe-in for the Player of the Year award again and will star for Team USA at the upcoming Presidents Cup at Medinah.Ted Scott, Scheffler’s extremely successful long-time caddie, has had a front row seat to his man’s brilliance over the past few years.And the looper has clearly picked up a tip or two.With a few weeks off until the Presidents Cup gets underway, Scott has been practicing his own golf game on the driving range.And he has laid down a challenge to Scheffler while calling in some help from soon-to-be Presidents Cup rival Si-Woo Kim.Posting a video of himself hitting a crisp iron shot on the range, Scott wrote: “I’m gonna beat Scottie. I can feel it. It’s coming. All I need is luck, talent, and about 10 shots from him.”Scott then asked Kim for his thoughts with the world number 13 replying: “Easy money Ted!!!”Scott then replied: “Will you be my scramble partner and let’s beat this guy.”Scott plays off a four-handicap and nearly made it as a professional himself before switching to caddying in 1999. View this post on Instagram He enjoyed a successful 15-year stint with Bubba Watson, in which they won the Masters in 2012 and 2014.Scott then began working for Scheffler in November 2021 and the duo have since won 22 tournaments including two more Masters titles plus the PGA Championship and Open title last summer.Scott was on the bag last weekend as Scheffler secured his second FedExCup victory in style.Scheffler was at his supreme best to ease to victory at East Lake and win the $10million season finale.After the victory, Scheffler thanked his caddie, saying: “It’s important for me to get out and be able to voice to Ted in those [frustrating] moments.Scheffler and Scott have won plenty of tournaments in recent yearsGetty“I feel like Ted for me on the course is a lot more than just a caddie, someone giving me numbers. He’s really in those moments with me.“He’s a tremendous asset as a friend and as a partner out there on the course.”Scheffler also revealed how he and his team planned to celebrate his successes this season.He added: “I’m a big cheeseburger guy. Cheeseburger, fries, maybe a milkshake if they’ve got one hiding back there.“I had a beer for the first time in a long time,” he confessed. “I don’t really drink very often. My wife and my manager were like, ‘Wow, I haven’t seen you have a beer in a long time’. Well, season’s over now. I’m going to have a beer. Well-earned beer.”Scheffler and Scott will return to action at the 2026 Presidents Cup which gets underway at Medinah Country Club on September 24.
