Its one thing to ask for a hand up once in a while, but when they're asking every week or two, they need to figure out supports other than asking random strangers to go through their cupboards. If someone is finding themselves short all the time, they need to make bigger changes and/or seek more permanent supports from organizations set up to provide it.
