The Government has taken note of the verdict delivered today by the nine jurors in the criminal proceedings concerning the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.The Government said it has always provided the necessary support and resources to ensure that all institutions can fully carry out their functions.In relation to the same case, a number of individuals have already been investigated, prosecuted and sentenced to lengthy terms of imprisonment.The Government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that justice is carried out through the relevant institutions.In light of the sensitivity of the moment, the Government appealed for prudence in public commentary, warning that certain comments could “do more harm than good”.It said all institutions will continue to have the Government’s full support in carrying out their work.The Government also said that, following the major reforms implemented in recent years, it remains committed to continuing with further reforms aimed at strengthening the rule of law.•
