Alphonso Smith Jr. Credit: Jeffrey Beall/WikipediaA former NFL player has passed away at a young age, just after releasing an extremely harrowing message to the world before his death.As TMZ reported, ex-cornerback Alphonso Smith Jr. died on Wednesday in an apparent suicide at a housing community in Florida. He was only 40 years old.Shortly before his death, Smith left a post on Facebook alluding to the “demon” inside of him and everyone whom he had hurt along the way.“Do not cry for me! I tried everything in my power to fight the demons behind the ones that someone put into ME! Smith wrote. “I did not want to be that WAY! I know I have disappointed so many folks.“This is a DEMON in me! But not only me! It’s EVERYONE! I have HURT so many! I needed help & did not get it!”Smith went on to strongly suggest that an older lady had sexually abused him when he was a boy. In turn, he said this caused him to prey on other innocent young souls.“To my family, BABY, my MOM, my siblings, things happened to your boy, your brother while I was little that an older lady did onto me,” he added. “As a result guys, I did the same onto others! Please forgive me!”Smith concluded his ‘confession’ by apparently telling the world he planned to take his own life.“I am SORRY! He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2nd round of the 2009 NFL Draft and spent one year with the team.In 2010, he was traded to the Detroit Lions and played his final three seasons with them. He recorded 88 tackles and 8 interceptions in his NFL career.He led the Lions with 5 interceptions in 2010.Before his NFL career, he played four seasons at Wake Forest University from 2004 to 2008.He was named an All-American as a senior with the Demon Deacons.
